Professional software engineer, amateur musician, aspiring middle of the pack endurance athlete

About Me

Hi, I'm Jimmy. As a software engineer, one of the things I enjoy most about my work is the ability to experiment and iterate quickly while solving problems. Rather than spending too much time theorizing about what might work, I prefer to test ideas, learn from real results, and adjust until I find something that delivers value. Over time, I've discovered that this mindset extends far beyond software. In other words, staying open to learning and adapting enables steady growth in many areas of life.

For example, as a musician, it's tempting to grab the sheet music for a new song and play it end-to-end right away. But I've found much better results by isolating the most challenging measures and practicing them slowly and deliberately. By breaking music into small, focused sections, I can gradually build confidence and eventually play the entire piece with clarity and intention.

Similarly, as an endurance athlete (and self-aware slowpoke), I've also learned to avoid getting stuck in research rabbit holes about training theory and nutrition strategy. The most effective improvements have come from getting outside, testing different paces and run/walk intervals, tracking what actually works, and iterating based on lived experience — not hypothetical plans.

Across all these domains, embracing feedback loops has been foundational to how I learn and improve. If you like building, learning, and experimenting (whether it is engineering related or otherwise), I would love to connect!
